Yagna

This series is dedicated to Kolkata’s sweat-soaked, bare-footed hand-rickshaw pullers struggling against the heat and hunger while towing human loads on their rickshaws.

The artist has romanticised the hand-rickshaw pullers through her paintings as they are a discomfiting symbol of Kolkata’s poverty and struggle.

The Red color tone used in the paintings represents struggle, poverty and sweat of innocent rickshaw pullers; against the blue color, which is the symbol of technology taking away their livelihood.
